Fire Mission Alpha knows that you care about how your personal information is used and shared, and we take your privacy seriously. Please read the following to learn more about our privacy policy. By visiting and using the Fire Mission Alpha website, you are accepting the practices outlined in this Privacy Policy.

This Privacy Policy covers Fire Mission Alpha’s treatment of personal information that Fire Mission Alpha gathers when you are on the Fire Mission Alpha website (the “Site”) and when you use Fire Mission Alpha services (collectively the “Service”). This policy does not apply to the practices of third parties that Fire Mission Alpha does not own or control, such as advertisers, or to individuals that Fire Mission Alpha does not employ or manage.

Notice of all changes that materially affect ways in which your personally identifiable data may be used or shared will be posted in updates to this Privacy Policy. If you continue to use the Fire Mission Alpha.com website/Service after notice of changes have been published on our site, you hereby provide your consent to the changed practices.

1. Types of Personal Information Fire Mission Alpha Collects

Our primary goal in collecting personal information is to provide you with a friendly, customized, and efficient experience. We collect the following types of information from our users:

a) Information You Provide to Us

We receive and store any information you enter on our website or provide to us in any other way. You can choose not to provide us with certain information, but then you may not be able to take advantage of many of our special features.

b) Automatic Information

We receive and store certain types of non-personally identifiable information whenever you interact with us. Fire Mission Alpha automatically receives and records certain “traffic data” on our server logs from your browser including your IP address, Fire Mission Alpha cookie information, and the page you requested.

Cookies & Log Files

Like most websites, we use cookies and web log files to track site usage, including our site or our advertisers’ or partners’ sites; to accumulate and report anonymous, aggregate (data collected in mass), statistical information on website and advertisement usage; to determine which features our overall user population likes best; to save your password so you don’t have to re-enter it each time you visit our sites; and to display the most appropriate advertising or content based on your interests, among other uses.

A cookie is an alphanumeric identifier in the form of a tiny data file that we transfer to your computer’s hard drive through your Web browser to enable our systems to recognize your browser and tell us how and when pages in our website are visited and by how many people. Fire Mission Alpha cookies do not collect personal information, and we do not combine information collected through cookies with other personal information to tell us who you are or what your screen name or email address is.

You may, on your browser, disable or reject cookies, but if so you may not be able to access all of the Fire Mission Alpha website content.

One type of cookie, known as a “persistent” cookie, may be set so that the next time you visit the Fire Mission Alpha.com website, the persistent cookie will allow the website to recognize you.

Another type of cookie, called a “session” cookie, is used to identify a particular visit to Fire Mission Alpha.com. Session cookies expire after a short time or when you close your web browser.

Due to the communications standards on the Internet, when you visit Fire Mission Alpha.com we automatically receive the URL of the site from which you came and the site to which you are going when you leave Fire Mission Alpha.com. We also receive the Internet protocol (IP) address of your computer (or the proxy server you use to access the World Wide Web), your computer operating system and type of web browser you are using, as well as the name of your ISP. This information may be used to analyze overall trends to help us improve Fire Mission Alpha.com. The linkage between your IP address and your personally identifiable information will never be shared with third parties without your permission, except when required by law.

Any sensitive information that you provide will be secured with all industry standard protocols and technology.

Web Beacons

We may allow ad networks to serve advertisements to Fire Mission Alpha.com users. Ad networks include third party ad servers, ad agencies, ad technology vendors and research firms. Fire Mission Alpha.com may “target” some ads to readers that fit a certain general profile — for example, “deer hunters in Illinois.” We do NOT use personally identifiable information to target ads.

To deliver these ads properly, we may include a file, called a web beacon, from these ad networks within pages served by Fire Mission Alpha.com so the networks may provide anonymized, aggregated auditing, research and reporting for advertisers as well as to target ads to you while you visit other websites.

Because your web browser must request these advertisements and web beacons from the ad network’s servers, these companies can view, edit or set their own cookies, just as if you had requested a web page from their site.

These web beacons may also be used by ad networks to display targeted ads on other websites as a substitute for random, irrelevant ads.

Fire Mission Alpha.com may use technology like DoubleClick Inc. to serve ads. DoubleClick may use non-personal information, such as your state or zip code, in order to provide advertisements about goods and services that may be of interest to you while you visit Fire Mission Alpha.com. In the course of serving advertisements to Fire Mission Alpha.com, DoubleClick may place or recognize a unique “cookie” on your browser. If you would like more information about this practice and to know your choices about not having this information used by DoubleClick, please go to http://www.doubleclick.com/privacy/index.aspx. Note that when you opt-out of the DoubleClick cookie a special DoubleClick “opt-out” cookie will replace the DoubleClick Ad cookie. If you ever delete the cookies on your browser you will need to again opt-out of the DoubleClick Ad Cookie.

Some of our advertisers or other business partners may use cookies on our website. Fire Mission Alpha has no access to or control over these cookies.

If you opt-out you will lose the potential benefit of receiving ads that are more targeted to your interests.

Counters

Fire Mission Alpha may display a counter on any page indicating the total number of times that page has been viewed. This includes member profile pages.

Social Sharing

Cookie and similar information may be used to help you share Fire Mission Alpha.com content across social networks.

POSTING DECORUM

When it comes to comments, please be civil, embrace The Golden Rule, that’s about it. Decent people will do this. For the non-decent, here’s more.

1. No bad stuff, particularly spam or anything your mother would be embarrassed about. You know what that is, but here’s the legal stuff (more is covered in our Terms of Use).

> Do not post threatening, harassing, defamatory, or libelous material.

> Do not post links to external sites that are obscene, pornographic or which have nothing to do with music or the music business.

> Do not intentionally make false or misleading statements.

> Do not offer to sell or buy any product or service unless explicitly authorized in writing by Fire Mission Alpha.com.

> Do not post material that infringes copyright.

> Do not post information that you know to be confidential or sensitive or otherwise in breach of the law.

> Keep all comments relevant to the particular topic or post where the comment is being posted.

2. We reserve the right to move or remove any posting, including comments and/or blog posts, without notice or explanation at our sole discretion. We do not commit to preserving every posting – please bear this in mind if you post. While we sometimes do explain deletions, the number of posts vs. the size of our staff makes it impossible to always do so. Please don’t take deletions personally. No one likes to have their posts deleted, but users appreciate a high signal-to-noise ratio.

3. That said, we don’t have the resources to review every post on the site. If you see a post that you feel is inappropriate, please send an email with the URL of the post in question to admin AT Fire Mission Alpha DOT com. We also can’t promise 100% consistency in administration of comments though we endeavor to do so.

4. Fire Mission Alpha can and will not accept responsibility for information posted by anyone other than Fire Mission Alpha staff.
